Disability Surfing in CornwallFreedom Surf is a pioneering disabled surfing project based at Fistral Beach in Newquay. Our mission is to provide fun and life-changing surfing experiences for people with physical disabilities, autism and special educational needs. Since we began to offer disabled surfing opportunities in 2006, Freedom Surf has grown and developed into one of the leading disability surf schools in the UK. We have now worked with over 100 people with different disabilities, including cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, high and low functioning autism, Huntington’s disease, MS, spina bifida, blindness and paraplegia. We have also worked with children with special educational needs from schools across Cornwall. Please click here for two case studies. All our lessons are run by professional surf coaches, who have had specialist training and experience of working with people with disabilities. They are supported by a fantastic team of highly trained, dedicated volunteers who ensure our clients’ needs are catered for. So if you know a disabled person who would like to have a go at surfing please get in touch with us! Please click here to send us an e-mail and we will call you back without delay. |
